“Whole bunch-pressed directly to French oak (33% new) for wild fermentation, and 11 months maturation on lees. Gleaming, pale straw-green; it is the complexity, integrity and length of Yarra Valley chardonnays as good as this that show the limitations of warmer regions' wines. Here white peach/nectarine flavours lead the way, albeit with complex texture and structure built on the back-palate by citrussy acidity and the positive influence of seriously good Burgundian oak. 96 Points" Halliday Wine Companion

“5% whole bunches, wild-fermented, hand-plunged and foot-stomped, 21 days on skins, matured in French oak (40% new) for 10 months. Bright, full colour; a very complex, spicy wine, the bouquet and palate singing the same song. It gives the impression of more than 5% whole bunches, but regardless, it has utterly exceptional length and drive. The flavours are an Aladdin's cave of endless delights, red, purple and blue fruits bouncing off each other. 97 Points” Halliday Wine Companion

"66% whole bunches, 34% destemmed, wild yeast open-fermented, 22 days on skins, foot-stomped, matured in French oak (67% new) for 18 months. Deep, clear colour; a pocket rocket, built to travel far and live long. Black cherry, plum and spice all come through strongly after the lengthy elevage. Its tiny production (69 dozen, sold in 6-packs) is a shame, but it enabled James Lance to calculate an average 91g bunch weight! Its best is years away. 96 Points" Halliday Wine Companion

“Destemmed, not crushed, whole berries wild yeast open-fermented, 18 days on skins, matured in French oak for 18 months, 65 dozen made. Making in micro-quantities like this isn't easy, it's just that James Lance makes it look easy. Cassis and bay leaf run the flavour line perfectly, with the usual balance of quality oak and fine tannins. 95 Points” Halliday Wine Companion
