Grown by us on our historic and iconic Lance's Vineyard, established 1976, one of the oldest vineyards in the Nillumbik subregion of the Yarra Valley. Time has shown this vineyard to consistently be one of Australia's most distinguished sites.
"66% whole bunches, 34% destemmed, wild yeast open-fermented, 22 days on skins, foot-stomped, matured in French oak (67% new) for 18 months. Deep, clear colour; a pocket rocket, built to travel far and live long. Black cherry, plum and spice all come through strongly after the lengthy elevage. Its tiny production (69 dozen, sold in 6-packs) is a shame, but it enabled James Lance to calculate an average 91g bunch weight! Its best is years away. 96 Points" Halliday Wine Companion
The Yarra Valley’s first Close Planted Vineyard. Pinot Noir grown on a tiny plot (0.25 Ha, planted 1989) on our Estate Vineyard. Very high vine density and extremely intensive viticulture produce our most powerful and expressive fruit. These vines are hand pruned, dressed and harvested.
Made without added yeast, fining or filtration, this wine is estate bottled, with a limited production.
Vegan friendly.
These wines, being unfiltered, may have developed a slight deposit in the bottle, so settling and careful pouring/decanting is recommended.
