2021 PET BLANC CHARDONNAY - NEW RELEASE SPARKLING!

Our Estate Vineyard. Old vines and fastidious viticulture produce fruit that sings a song of both place and variety.

After originally planting just two rows of Chardonnay in 1977, the results inspired planting a further 0.8 Hectares in 1984. These vines are hand pruned, dressed and harvested.

DESCRIPTION

We’ve been loving making pétillant naturels since 2012, as we adore the clarity, purity and honesty of site and conditions that they present. And they are bubbly! But in 2021 we wanted to up the ante, to make the absolutely best Pet Nat that we could using our precious Lance’s Vineyard Chardonnay fruit.

Here it is. Natural yeast, 32 months lees maturation in bottle, disgorged with zero dosage & very low SO2. Pétillant. Part Pet Nat, part Blanc de Blanc. Pet Blanc. We’re very proud of it, and excited to share it with you.

Made without added yeast, fining or filtration, with a limited production of 2,400 bottles. A natural wine - traces of sediment may remain.

This just missed out on top spot of the tasting for Harris. “Bright, pale green straw with good clarity,” he wrote. “Fresh and vibrant lemon and grapefruit with subtle grassy notes. Soft creamy mousse, light bright and fresh with a persistent fruit and acid driven tail. Some toasty complexity to match the fine lime and lemon citrus fruit. A fine, tight, fresh and light style done well. Excellent.”
