Halliday Wine Companion - Philip Rich
Planted in Nillumbik with the oldest fruit now 45 years old. Some (10%) whole bunches with 14 days on skins before being pressed off into 35% new oak for 8 months. Deeply coloured. A powerful wine with maraschino cherry, dark plum and a touch of spice. Concentrated and plush, the red and black fruits are joined by a dusting of dark chocolate powder, with velvety tannins rounding out a powerful yet well-weighted wine that I imagine will look even better 5–10 years from now. 13.5% alc. To 2032. Rating 92
The Winefront - Campbell Mattinson
Pinot Noir from this vineyard comes with unforced undergrowth characters. It’s one of the main reasons it matures so well; its inbuilt complexity works wonders with age. This release has some showy oak on top but its trademark underlying cues are all there; it’s both autumnal and cherried, its pristine plum characters presenting as though they’ve been rolled along the forest floor. There’s a tightness to the finish and a slight dryness there too. The score is for now; the future may well yield higher. Rated : 93+ Points
